A longitudinal research study by Samm Haillay
What is the Crip Count
The Crip Count is an annual study examining the representation of disabled creatives in top-tier international film festivals. We track writers, directors, and producers whose work has been selected for Sundance, Berlin, Cannes, Venice, and TIFF.

This project aims to provide transparent data on disability representation in film, highlighting both progress and areas where the industry must improve. By counting disabled voices behind the camera, we create accountability and celebrate the artists breaking through barriers.

Our methodology involves researching publicly available information, direct outreach to filmmakers, and consultation with disability advocacy organizations. Each year's report captures a snapshot of the current landscape while allowing for year-over-year comparison.
